Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy is responsible for managing the preparation of Slovenia’s Development Strategy, for coordinating, monitoring and following up on its implementation, and ensuring that other strategic documents are in compliance with the Strategy’s development goals. At the national level, the Development Policies Division is responsible for ensuring policy integrity, and for planning a system that ensures compatibility between financial and policy framework. The Division works towards better mechanisms of horizontal and multilevel cooperation, promotes cross-cutting working and understanding of cross-cutting issues. Moreover, the Division makes sure that national development planning documents are in compliance with the EU and other international organizations’ development documents. While coordinating and monitoring the progress made towards the sustainable development goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Development Policies Division makes sure that national development goals are better aligned with international development goals.

Development Policies Division participates in and coordinates international projects (dodati link na Retrace in Symbi), and performs evaluations to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of Cohesion Policy programmes (​​​​​​​).
