State Secretary in Bucharest on inclusive cohesion policy

Bucharest, 30 October 2018 – State Secretary dr. Nevenka Ribič attended the high-level conference ‘’An inclusive cohesion policy for a Union closer to the citizens” which put spotlight on the future of cohesion policy and next multiannual financial framework.
The conference ‘’An inclusive cohesion policy for a Union closer to the citizens’’ which was organised by Romania, the next member state to hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, brought together high-level officials to discuss the role of cohesion policy, its benefits and positive impact on social prosperity, sustainable development and jobs. Conference panel discussion particularly focused on future major simplifications of cohesion policy and its fundamental role in tackling future European challenges. The panelists agreed that only a strong cohesion policy could successfully face and overcome Brexit-related challenges and other issues emerging from a rapidly changing global environment.  The conference was the first one in a series of similar discussion events focusing on the importance of cohesion policy, which will be one of the flagship priorities under the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council.
